| Summary: | Malaysia, United Kingdom and Singapore are countries which govern the different age of consent to medical treatment. In Malaysia, the age of consent to medical treatment is 18 years old. In United Kingdom, the minimum age to consent to medical treatment is 16 years old. However in Singapore, the age to consent to medical treatment is 21 years old. The literature review will provide information on the age of consent to medical treatment in these three countries. This is based by reviewing several sources such as law reference books, newspaper reports, articles and journals. The legal chapter will further discuss on the relevant statutes and cases. Furthermore, there will be a discussion on a principle called "Gillick competence rule". On the findings chapter of the report, the field works deal with two respondents and some investigations and deductions derived from their perceptions on the matter relating to the age of consent to medical treatment. The central discussion of this study will talk about what is the most relevant age to consent to medical treatment. |
