Summary:The researcher investigated the use of internet for academic purpose among university students using a quantitative case study method. The study was conducted in two phases. First, a pilot study was conducted among 30 representative university students in order to check the reliability and validity of the main instrument utilized, i.e. a questionnaire. After that, the piloted questionnaire was distributed among 350 of diploma and bachelor students who are studying in University Mara Technology Samarahan 2 Campus. The research findings indicate that bachelor students spent the most time browsing the Internet for the academic purpose, The main purposes of Internet use were to obtain course related information (online course) and playing online games. Instagram and Facebook are the most popular social networking site among students.
