Summary: | Traffic congestions are one of the traffic management critical point in modern cities. An inefficient traffic light system and lack of traffic control led to the adverse traffic conditions. Different research studied the solutions of traffic density using the new technologies to make smart traffic light information systems. Making the way for any emergency vehicle can help maximize the rescue and survival rates during the emergency operation. Therefore, the traffic light system should prioritize emergency vehicles and dynamically change traffic conditions. In this paper, a prototype of the traffic light system in one junction was designed using Arduino UNO with radio frequency (RF) transmission with 433 MHz RF modules. The traffic light system works normally until it receives a signal from an emergency vehicle, the traffic lights sequence will change to help emergency vehicles pass the busy traffic junction fast. However, different timing for the traffic light and how it will affect the whole performance was tested using Microsoft Excel. The system will provide the green signal for the ambulance by switching the signals based on the performance in the road. The results showed that the system can be useful to increase the efficiency and reduce delay of emergency vehicles during emergency operations. |
