Description
Summary:The Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, or persons with unique identifiers to transfer data over a network. The internet helps people live and work more smartly. Technology contributes to helping from environmental threatening such as flooding, and tornadoes which cost people's lives. In this matter, IoT technology comes up with a lot of solutions. One of major well-known technology is the Long Range (LoRa). IoT technology which provides a low-power wide-area network protocol that uses radio frequency bands to transmit data. In this study, we proposed an Intelligent Flood Alert System (IFAS) to predict the early flooding by dropping the LoRa devices in certain places to take the required actions in the threatening of flooding and save people’s lives. IFAS was tested in a real environment in different scenarios such as the water level, time duration, and maximum successful transmission coverage. In addition, the system provided three colors of alerts and a buzzer with different alerts to show the threatening level. The IFAS system proofed the ability to cover an area of 700 m.
