The reported cases in Malaysia are 8,949 in total and continues to increase in other 200 countries. It also has changed the global economic equilibrium. Malaysia can be considered as one of the most progressive countries in the battle against coronavirus. While facing a drastic change in the political scenario, Malaysian economy is expected to see a contraction of -20% at its worst and with a growth of 0.5% at its best in 2020 which contrast to 4.3% in 2019. Moreover, Malaysia has to face a highly challenging global economic outlook. Throughout this situation, Zakat has a prominent role to solve poverty and financial crisis. By using qualitative and content analysis methods, this paper aims to analyze the Covid-19’s effects in Malaysia, assess the Zakat management and its initiative to overcome current economic challenges. It is found that B40 is the most affected group in Malaysia during the Covid-19 crisis and there is apparent increase in the dependency on the use of the technology.
