Summary:HUMAN CREATION: ANATOMICAL ERRORS VS BEST DESIGN (AHSAN AT-TAQWIM) 1MOHD YUSOF MOHAMAD, 1Department of Physical Rehabilitation Sciences, Kulliyyah of Allied Health Sciences, International Islamic, University Malaysia, Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah, Bandar Indera Mahkota, 25200, Kuantan, Pahang Darul Makmur, MALAYSIA. yusofkahs@iium.edu.my Mode: Oral Presentation ABSTRACT Introduction: The complexity of human creation signifies the ultimate creation of Allah. Al- Quran has described the creation of human being in the best form (Ahsan at-Taqwim) and in a sophisticated process. The fine tuning of human creation leads to the existence of God. Nevertheless, argumentations arise in challenging the notion of human as best creation. Evolutionists claimed scientific evidences demonstrating the deficient in certain anatomical structures. These ‘anatomical errors’ are used as proof to show human inherited the characteristics from non-human predecessors. . In other words, these deficient are proof of theory of evolution. Therefore, the idea of ultimate creator which created human in the best formed can be rejected. Objective: The current study intended to study the main arguments of anatomical errors propose by evolutionist. In addition, in depth study of verses pertaining to the concept of human as best creation was studied. Methods: The study focused on the arguments put forward by Professor Nathan H. Lens in his book titled ‘Human Errors-A Panorama of Our Glitches, from Pointless Bones to Broken Genes’. Further analyses were done to understand the context of best creation in authenthic sources of Islam. Results: Main arguments in terms of anatomy errors were pertaining to the backward structure of retina, flaws of human knee, pointless bones, upward drainage of nasal sinus and abnormal long recurrent laryngeal nerve. All these structures does not reduce the functional capabilities of the system. The concept of best creation as elucidated in chapter 95 verse 4 does not mean human possessing the total ultimate anatomical structures. It refers to the superiority in terms of intelligence. Conclusion: The anatomical errors claimed by evolutionist are disputable and does not jeopardize the concept of best creation in Islamic faith.
