However, postsurgical cancer recurrence and metastasis remain the leading causes of cancer related mortality.2 Emerging evidence suggests that anaesthetic agents used during surgical ptrocedures may disrupt the delicate balance between tumour aggressiveness and the body’s immune surveillance, thereby contributing to cancer recurrence and metastasis.
