This article presents the integration of ICSI within the LISC 7021 (Arabic Cataloguing) course, highlighting how it equips students with the essential skills needed to address the complexities of cataloguing Arabic and Islamic materials. Despite the rich cultural and historical significance of these collections, the absence of standardized cataloguing systems poses significant challenges in both academic settings and industry. This initiative focuses on a comprehensive approach, integrating hands-on learning, case studies, and industry collaboration. Key challenges include the scarcity of Arabic-specific metadata standards and the need for bilingual cataloguers with industry-ready expertise. Through initiatives such as industry partnerships, collaborative projects, and student-centred case studies, LISC 7021 leverages ICSI to create a dynamic learning environment that mirrors real-world demands. Success factors include aligning course objectives with industry needs, fostering student competency, and enhancing engagement through practical application. This article also highlights notable achievements, such as the successful implementation of ICSI-driven projects and the positive feedback from both students and industry professionals. Ultimately, the integration of ICSI in LISC 7021 is a key step in advancing the field of Arabic cataloguing, preparing students to meet the demands of the evolving library and information science sector.
