Sufficient dementia knowledge is required to successfully offer therapies for people living with dementia. Telemedicine is the
term used to describe the use of technology to provide medical care over a distance. Telemedicine has been used to provide
simple and efficient healthcare solutions in the treatment of illness. Despite it is relatively new, mobile health (mHealth) has
grown significantly in popularity as a means of assisting persons living with a chronic condition. The current study reviewed
existing dementia status in AfrAbia from telemedicine perspective. For bibliometric analysis, Microsoft Excel, VOSviewer,
SciMA, and CiteSpace tools were utilized. The relevant documents were chosen from the PubMed Core Collection. Only 86
original articles were retrieved from the PubMed. The first paper was published in 2012. There was an increased trend in the
number of articles published since then. To bridge the gap between developed and less developed nations in dementia
research, national and interinstitutional cooperation should be strengthened. Recent years have seen a decline in research
enthusiasm in this topic, indicating that it has reached a rather mature stage. Teledementia could include a variety of
strategies and resources to assist the AfrAbia community especially in caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease. |
