Description
Summary:The process systems are modeled to know the dynamic behavior of the system. The models are based on the fundamental theories or laws of the conservation of mass, energy, and momentum. The objective of this project is to develop model that need to address the process that is difficult (complex) to model. In Industrial Process control, the process variables such as flow, level, pressure and temperature are widely controlled process variables. The modeling technique that is used in this project is empirical modeling. The experiment was conducted on the existing Gas Processing Pilot Plant located in the Process Control & Instrumentation Laboratory at University Technology PETRONAS. The empirical model is developed for pressure and it is single input single output (SISO) system using first order with dead-time model. The process reaction curve was obtained from the empirical model and the parameters of the system were obtained from process reaction curve. The parameters obtained from the empirical model are used to form the transfer function which is used for pressure controller analysis. After finding the transfer function of the model, the task was to reconstruct the model in MA TLAB/SIMULINK. Different tuning methods are used to analyze the controller performance. The tuning methods include both the open loop and closed loop and then the results with both tuning techniques are compared to yield the best result. The tuning parameters were then fed into the closed loop MA TLAB and SIMULINK for the real time analysis.
