Land use. Labor TH Building construction The Malaysian construction industry is essential for delivering essential infrastructure and addressing economic and social needs, significantly contributing to the national economy through income and employment generation. It is also a critical aspect given the multiplier effects deriving from its reliance and interlinkages with various sectors. Along its substantial investment potential and its capacity for job creation, income generation and wealth creation, the sector emerges as a key economic driver involving a selection of stakeholders at different stages of the development. As urban populations grew, the demand for residential units, particularly affordable housing, intensifies with the urgent need to accelerate the use of Industrialized Building Systems (IBS). Despite various government efforts to promote IBS, progress has been slow and limited. Due to the shortage of detailed qualitative research examining developers' viewpoints and strategies to encourage wider adoption of the system, this study uses qualitative methods, including interviews with 13 key developers, to investigate the adoption of IBS focusing on the challenges and barriers encountered. It identifies major obstacles and strategic responses from the perspectives of both IBS adopters and non-adopters. The findings emphasize the influence of developers, and their specific role on IBS adoption and provide recommendations to improve and encourage its implementation. These insights are intended to assist policymakers in evaluating current practices and formulating a sustainable strategy for IBS adoption. Although the study does not include quantitative data, it offers valuable insights into developers' concerns. Future research should incorporate quantitative analysis and policy evaluations to further understand IBS adoption and its impact on the construction industry. 2024 Final Year Project / Dissertation / Thesis NonPeerReviewed application/pdf http://eprints.utar.edu.my/7049/1/1._The_Adoption_of_Industrialised_Building_System_(IBS)_through_the_Lens_of_Real_Estate_Developers_%2D_Ho_Ruiz_Ching.pdf Ho, Ruiz Ching (2024) The adoption of industrialised building system (IBS) through the lens of real estate developers.
