Benchmark simulator with dynamic environment for job scheduling in grid computing
Published 2014“…Characteristics of jobs and resources to be used in evaluating the performance of the scheduling algorithm must reflect the dynamic nature of real grid environment.Static models of jobs and resources cannot be used to generate jobs and resources in simulating the grid environment because of the dynamic nature of the grid. This paper presents a new graph representation of jobs and resources which is practical for hybrid metaheuristic model implementation such as ant colony optimization and genetic algorithm.A dynamic model that can generate jobs and resources similar to the jobs and resources in the real grid environment is also proposed.Jobs and resources may join in or drop out from the grid.Stochastic analysis is performed on the characteristics of jobs and resources.A simulator based on the dynamic expected time to compute, has been developed and can be used as a benchmark. The simulator can generate jobs and resources with the characteristics of jobs and resources in the real grid environment. This will facilitates the evaluation of dynamic job scheduling algorithm.…”

An integrated priority-based cell attenuation model for dynamic cell sizing
Published 2012“…A new, robust integrated priority-based cell attenuation model for dynamic cell sizing is proposed and simulated using real mobile traffic data. The proposed model is an integration of two main components; the modified virtual community – parallel genetic algorithm (VC-PGA) cell priority selection module and the evolving fuzzy neural network (EFuNN) mobile traffic prediction module. The VC-PGA module controls the number of cell attenuations by ordering the priority for the attenuation of all cells based on the level of mobile level of mobile traffic within each cell. The EFuNN module predicts the traffic volume of a particular cell by extracting and inserting meaningful rules through incremental, supervised real-time learning. The EFuNN module is placed in each cell and the output, the predicted mobile traffic volume of the particular cell, is sent to local and virtual community servers in the VC-PGA module. The VC-PGA module then assigns priorities for the size attenuation of all cells within the network, based on the predicted mobile traffic levels from the EFuNN module at each cell. The performance of the proposed module was evaluated on five adjacent cells in Selangor, Malaysia. …”

Blind Source Separation Using Two-Dimensional Nonnegative Matrix Factorization In Biomedical Field
Published 2018“…Blind Source Separation (BSS) refers to the statistical technique of separating a mixture of underlying source signals.BSS denotes as a phenomena and separation on mixed heart-lung sound is one of its example. The challenge of this research is to separate the separate lung sound and heart sound from mixed heart-lung sound.A clear lung sound for diagnosis purpose able to be obtained after separating the mixed heart-lung sound. In biomedical field, lung information is precious due to it has been provided for respiratory diagnosis. However, the interference of heart sound towards lung sound will generate ambiguity and it will lead to drop down the accuracy of diagnosis. Thus,a clean lung sound is needed to increases the accuracy of diagnosis. One of the ways for non-invasive respiratory diagnosis for obtaining lung information is through extracting lung sound from mixed heart-lung sound by using Two-Dimensional Nonnegative Matrix Factorization (NMF2D) algorithm. This method is based on cocktail party effect in which it refers to human brain able to selectively listen to target among a cacophony of conversations and background noise and this considered as a difficult task to machine. Therefore, duplication on cocktail party effect into machine is used to separate the mixed heart-lung sound. This research presents a novel approach NMF2D algorithm in which a suitable model for signal mixture that accommodated the reverberations and nonlinearity of the signals. The objectives of this research are focusing on investigating the useful signal analysis algorithms, defining a new technique of signal separability, designing and developing novel methods for BSS. …”
