Network instrusion prevention system ( NIPS) based on network intrusion detection system (NIDS) and ID3 algorithm decision tree classifier by Syurahbil, A

    Published 2011
“…Network security has gained significant attention in research and industrial communities.Due to the increasing threat of the network intrusion, firewalls have become important elements of the security policy.Firewall performance highly depends toward number of rules, because the large more rules the consequence makes downhill performance progressively.Firewall can be allow or deny access network packets incoming and outgoing into Local Area Network(LAN),but firewall can not detect intrusion. To distinguishing an intrusion network packet or normal is very difficult and takes a lot of time.An analyst must review all the network traffics previously. In this study,a new way to make the rules that can determine network packet is intrusion or normal automatically. These rules implemented into firewall as prevention, which if there is a network packet that match these rules then network packet will be dropped. This is called Network Intrusion Prevention System(NIPS).These rules are generated based on Network Intrusion Detection System(NIDS)and Iterative Dichotomiser 3 (ID3)Algorithm Decision Tree Classifier, which as data training is intrusion network packet and normal network packets from previous network traffics. The experiment is successful, which can generate the rules then implemented into a firewall and drop the intrusion network packet automatically. Moreover, this way can minimize number of rules in firewall.…”

Parse tree visualization for Malay sentence (BMTutor) by Muhamad Noor, Yusnita, Jamaludin, Zulikha

    Published 2015
“…It is also to enhance the learning process in BM that can be used by communities, especially students. An algorithm in designing BMTutor is discussed in this paper. The algorithm of the software is done sequentially as followed: 1) tokenizing 2) checking the number of words, 3) searching and comparing process to check the spelling or conjunctions, 4) assigning each word with a certain word class, 5) matching with rules, and 6) delivering/producing output (sentence correction or parse tree visualization, word attribute components, and parse tree from sentence examples).Based on the testing conducted, output from the development process shows that the prototype can correct all 15 invalid sentences and can produce parse tree visualization for all 20 sentences.…”

Speeding up index construction with GPU for DNA data sequences by Rahmaddiansyah, , Abdul Rashid, Nur’aini

    Published 2011
“…The advancement of technology in scientific community has produced terabytes of biological data. This datum includes DNA sequences.String matching algorithm which is traditionally used to match DNA sequences now takes much longer time to execute because of the large size of DNA data and also the small number of alphabets. To overcome this problem, the indexing methods such as suffix arrays or suffix trees have been introduced. In this study we used suffix arrays as indexing algorithm because it is more applicable, not complex and used less space compared to suffix trees. The parallel method is then introduced to speed up the index construction process. …”
