Description
Summary:New aircraft are design with one piece flow of monolithic component to replace large number of assembled component. This new structure contains a thin-walled rib and flange section that low in rigidity. During machining, the cutting forces cause deflection to the thin-wall section, leading to dimensional form errors that cause the finished part to be out of specification or failure. To tackle this problem, most of the existing research on machining low rigidity component only concentrated on the process planning. the effects of cutter geometrical feature for the occurrence of the surface errors are often neglected. This paper reports on the effects of end mill clearance angle on the magnitude of wall deflection.
