| Summary: | This paper investigated the brake disc squeal phenomenon using finite element analysis (FEA). The modal analysis has been used in this work to determine the natural frequency and mode shape pattern. The study on four different types of material properties is carried out to shows the effect of vibration mode natural frequency as the source of brake squeal contribution. The main different between low frequency squeal and high frequency squeal was distinguished by modal spacing with at least two modes coupling. By understanding the vibration characteristics and mode classification of the top-hat structure type of disc brake, it will be useful tool to assist brake design designers for necessary modification of existing disc brake structure to avoid squeal. It comes to the conclusion that squeal noise of disc brake rotor was influenced by its natural frequencies and modes of vibration. |
