It discussed the development of virtual piano keyboard. Virtual piano keyboard is an instrument, which allows users play music on the computer screen. It is represented in the virtual form, user cannot touch or feel the piano keyboard by their fingers, but mouse is used as the input device. Currently, there are not many virtual instruments software being used in market. The objective of this project is to provide a user friendly software which is low cost and easy use program especially for those who interested in music. Virtual piano keyboard provides all the functions that a real piano has; it serves like a real piano. The software development life cycle of designing the virtual piano keyboard refines the rapid prototyping model. Macromedia Director 7.0, Microsoft Visual Basic.Net and DirectX are used as programming language to develop this software.
