It involves the application of photovoltaic cell technology that capture solar and convert the energy to electricity. In this thesis different types of solar power system for residential as well as the status have been reviewed. Some of the solar systems are either mounted as separate units outside the premise or roof- mounted and shade structured types. The requirement for designing the solar power system as a general guide has been discussed. The photovoltaic system is elaborated at length emphasizing the solar cell modules, sizes of solar module, battery and cable sizes. Consequently my study reports on the design, and construction of the portable scaled down solar power system for residential that could be recommended for Orang asli resettlement areas. The proposed design of the battery system, battery charging system and battery isolator and wiring layout to be installed in the portable solar power system has been described.
