TDR has commonly used for testing and diagnosis faults along the transmission lines. It involved sending pulse along a cable by using an oscilloscope to observe the reflected pulses. The wave propagation characteristic of underground MV cables is usually determined by theory of natural modes propagation. By using electrical circuit analysis and transmission line theory, the relationship between the actual and the reflected pulses from the test cable to the reflected pulse measured from an oscilloscope can be obtained. In practice the actual reflected pulse cannot be obtained directly from test cable. In actual field test cable is usually lossy cables. Therefore by using simulation of TDR in PSpice circuit it delivered the wave propagation characteristic which is attenuation. By using the high frequency XLPE cable model, the distributed parameters which consists of R, resistance per-unit length (/m), L, inductance per-unit length (H/m), C, capacitance per-unit length (F/m), G, conductance per-unit length (S/m) is represented and applied in the TDR PSpice circuit simulation. Therefore, it is very important to develop high frequency XLPE cable model parameters. In addition, TDR measurement system for XLPE cables are studied and become as a simulation study using PSpice software. Moreover, this dissertation as a reference guides to study how wave propagate in TDR measurement system for testing and diagnosing of XLPE cable. 2024-10-07T01:34:06Z 2024-10-07T01:34:06Z 2014 Resource Types::text::Final Year Project https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/33685 en application/pdf
