The resulting layered organic-inorganic hybrid nanocomposite material was formed using 2-beta-naphthoxyacetic acid as guest anion intercalated into the Zn-Al layered double hydroxide inorganic host by microwave-assisted irradiation compared to conventional oil-bath shaker method. As a result of successful intercalation of 2-beta- naphthoxyacetic ion into the interlayer structure of Zn-Al-LDH, an expansion of the interlayer spacing, from 9.8 A in the layered double hydroxide to 21 A in the nanocomposite (ZAB) could be observed in the powder X-ray diffractogram. In Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), ZAB exhibits FTIR absorption bands characteristic of both BNOA and ZAL functional groups. This shows that synthesis of nanocomposite using microwave-irradiation method can be perform in shorter period compared to conventional oil-bath shaker method. 2024-03-05T00:22:56Z 2024-03-05T00:22:56Z 2010 Resource Types::text::Final Year Project https://irepository.uniten.edu.my/handle/123456789/31497 en_US application/pdf |
