Currently, there are no standard voltage levels for an autonomous DC micro/nano-grids. In this paper, an attempt to assess the efficiency of a 48 V based autonomous DC nano-grid is done for rural electrification schemes. A novel load management technique for incorporating Solar PV and battery bank is implemented. A simulation model is developed and the results are validated through the designed hardware prototype system. The results indicate an efficient and stable operation of the over-all autonomous DC nano-grid system. VDE VERLAG GMBH Berlin Offenbach.
