description Evolution of high voltage cables have increased significantly over the last decade due to emerging of HVAC applications. This study analyses the outcomes from an investigation on the “Evaluation of Electrical Breakdown Strength of Polyethylene-based nanocomposites”. Out of so many properties of insulation materials, determination of the breakdown voltage continues to evoke a lot of interest to the Electrical Engineers in general and High Voltage Engineers in particular. Thus, polymer nanocomposites become one of the main research areas for exploring the potential of insulating materials in terms of dielectric strength enhancement. This is due to many convincing results of nanocomposites capabilities reported by researchers. Therefore, this research work explores the influence of Silicon Dioxide (SiO2), Zirconium Oxide (ZrO2), Barium Titanate (BaTiO3), and Titanium oxide (TiO2) on the dielectric strength with Cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE). The nanocomposites samples are mixture between the filler and base polymer and filler or nanoparticles material is one of the major factors for improving the characteristic of the nanocomposite’s samples. Later, these nanocomposites samples will be test under High Voltage AC to seek out the level of dielectric breakdown strength for each nanocomposites sample and then we can determine the most effective insulation among them, which one stand at higher level of voltages.
