Description
Summary:The poultry industry holds a significant position in Malaysia as it provides the people with an affordable source of protein. Poultry product is frequently regarded as the preferred high-protein item in Malaysia as it is inexpensive, nutritive, and accepted by all type of religions in the country (Figure 6.1). According to statistics, a Malaysian consumes 370 eggs and close to 50 kg of chicken flesh year. Malaysia farmers are capable of meeting around 98% of the country’s demand for poultry meat and 115% of the demands for chicken eggs. Consequently, approximately 9% of chicken meat and roughly 7% of chicken eggs produced are able to be exported, creating a new sale for farmers, with Singapore being the primary export destination (National Institute of Food and Agriculture, 2023).
