Description
Summary:This study sought to find out the views of TESL/ESL undergraduates and TESL lecturers toward the method of open-book testing in the TESL Program of Unimas. Also investigated were the advantages and disadvantages of the open-book testing method based on the respondents' personal views and/or experience. Two separate questionnaires were administered to the undergraduates and lecturers respectively. A total of 193 undergraduates and 5 lecturers participated in this study. Quantitative percentage representations and generalized responses obtained were the descriptive statistics used for this study. The results showed that generally both groups of respondents had mixed feelings toward the open-book testing method. Respondents' views of both groups on the disadvantages of open-book testing outweighed their advantages.
