The first objectiveof this study is to identify the aspects of language decency explicitly in the novel BehindDinara. The second objective is to analyze the aspects of spoken language politeness based onLeech’s(1983) Principle of Politeness. The third objective is to identify the ef ect of language decencyemphasized by the author in the novel. This study has focused on Leech’s (1983) Principleof
Decency which consists of six maxims. This study has also used a qualitative method that is withtext analysis. Researchers have also selected KOMSAS novels to be studied. The findings showedthat eight events complied with the six maxims, namely the maxim of politeness, the maximof
