| Summary: | Objective: Teachers in Malaysia face significant challenges related to stress, anxiety, and depression, which negatively impact their mental well-being and professional effectiveness. Despite growing awareness of mental health issues, teachers often lack adequate support and resources to manage these pressures. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3, which promotes good health and well-being for all, this study emphasizes the importance of mental health awareness in improving teachers’ overall quality of life.
Method: Through a qualitative approach via in-depth interviews with 20 teachers and 2 key informants, the research assesses the current state of mental health awareness among teachers in Malaysia.
Results and Discussions: The findings highlight that while some mental health initiatives are available, significant gaps remain in providing comprehensive awareness programs and resources for teachers.
Originality/Value: The study underscores the need for targeted interventions aligned with SDG 3 to enhance teachers’ mental well-being and foster a healthier, more resilient educational workforce. |
