| Summary: | The COVID-19 outbreak is currently disturbing all facets of Malaysian life. Construction sectors were forced to close during the Movement Control Order (MCO). A prolonged MCO brings financial distress to the contractors due to the suspension and delay of construction works. Hence, it contributes too many implications on construction contracts. The demand for prolongation and disruption claims increase rapidly during the pandemic due to delays and disruption events. Therefore, this research aims to analyse loss and expenses claims due to the implementation of MCO in Malaysia. Specifically, it investigates the potential heads of damage claims under loss and expense claims caused by MCO. In this context, a damage claim is defined as the financial loss suffered by contractors due to delay and disruption events. An online survey was distributed to 79 G7 Contractors registered under Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB). Using Statistical Package for Social Science version 21 (SPSS 21.0) software, a descriptive analysis approach was used to identify patterns among respondents. |
