Summary:Article on: Article 1 - “Audio-visual preservation: A perpetual dilemma among selected Philippine academic libraries” Article 2 – “The Case for Digital Preservation of the Press and Audio-Visual Documents in Mauritius” The paper looks into how three of the major academic libraries in the Philippines – the University Library of the University of the Philippines Diliman, the Rizal Library of the Ateneo de Manila University and the University Library of the De La Salle University Manila – in custody of audio-visual collections are coping up with the looming issue of media obsolescence. The search for the suitable medium is rather what complicates the preservation of cultural heritage in the Philippines today, as intensified by the day-to-day existing material degradation factors that put the AV materials at risk by Christine M. Abrigo and Vincent M. Abrigo in the journal “Audio-Visual Preservation: A Perpetual Dilemma Among Selected Philippine Academic Libraries”. Meanwhile the second article “The Case for Digital Preservation of the Press and Audio-Visual Documents in Mauritius” by Nirmal K. Betchoo. The Mauritian Archives, under the aegis of the Ministry of Information and the National Library of Mauritius, have been constantly being challenged by the threat of stocking information in the form paper documents, it would be wise to consider how content technology in this particular sector that contributes to the cultural patrimony of the country should be digitally preserved.
