description Microgrid is a system that consists of a bidirectional inverter, energy storage system, load, controller, grid and communication. It helps to improve electric reliability, enhances the resilience of the energy, lower energy cost, improves the environment, and promotes clean energy. This project aims to develop a microgrid system by using a bidirectional inverter with the monitoring and control system, LabVIEW, through YAOPC server via SMA communication protocol. The communication technique used in the system is the USB/RS485 converter called i-7563U converter. The load banks with a capacity of 3 kW and 9 kW are developed to emulate the load profiles of users. They are controlled using NI-9403 through IDC cables. A 24-hour grid voltage fluctuations for the energy storage system and the utility supply are recorded for imbalanced voltage investigation. The results showed that for a balanced load study, the grid voltage decreases with the increment of load. For the unbalanced load condition, the phase voltages with lower loads will increase while the phase voltage with higher loads will decrease
