Mohammad Kaleem
Mohammad Kaleem (born 2006 or 2007) is an Indian boy known for having extremely large hands caused by a rare condition called Macrodactyly, also known as localised gigantism. The condition causes abnormal growth of bones, skin and tissues, leading to disproportionately large limbs.Kaleem was born in a village near Bokaro Steel City in Jharkhand, India, with hands that were already significantly larger than normal and continued to grow as he aged. By childhood, his hands measured around 13 inches (33 cm) and weighed several kilograms, making everyday tasks such as feeding himself, dressing, and tying his shoes difficult.
Due to his condition, Kaleem faced social stigma in his community, where he was bullied by other children and referred to as a “devil’s child” by some villagers. He was also denied admission to school because teachers and parents feared that his appearance would frighten other children.
Kaleem later underwent medical treatment in southern India, where surgeons performed operations to reduce the size of his hands and improve their function. The procedures were carried out by a team led by Raja Sabapathy at Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, who aimed to enhance his mobility and quality of life through staged surgeries and physiotherapy.
Kaleem became known as the “boy with the world’s biggest hands” before undergoing surgery, with his condition causing his hands and arms to grow to very large proportions and making daily activities difficult. His condition also led some villagers to believe he was cursed, contributing to his isolation.
Despite the challenges, Kaleem’s case has been widely reported due to the rarity of macrodactyly, which affects only a small number of people worldwide. Provided by Wikipedia
