總結:The awareness for the need of renewable energy has been increasing due to the environmental impacts from the current power generation system and its increasing operation cost. With increasing demand of electrical power especially in Malaysia which is projected to reach 274TWh in 2030, renewable energy will be a good alternative for fossil fuel energy. One of the promising renewable energy is the tidal wave energy. Therefore, this project aims to design and model a long stroke permanent magnet linear generator for tidal wave system. The specific objectives of this project are to conduct literature review for various types of linear machine, to propose new topologies design for tidal wave generating system, to design, model and simulate the proposed new topologies and to choose the best design base on the analysis result. The literature review on various types of linear machine has been carried out thorough reading of journals, textbooks and various. Linear permanent magnet machines come in various topologies such as moving-coil, moving-iron, and moving-magnet. Then, two new different topologies of linear permanent magnet will be proposed. Finite element analysis and optimisation of the proposed designs have been simulated using Finite Element Method Magnetics, FEMM software.
